Es una exposición retrospectiva sobre Jonathan Monk con obras del periodo 1993- 2005.  En vez de hacer una selección de sus trabajos y presentarla en las salas como un dispositivo estático, se opta por presentar el trabajo de Monk bajo un sistema secuencial que cambia diariamente. De modo que cada día hay una exposición diferente. La galería ubicada en la planta baja del ICA funcionó como almacén mientras en la  galería superior se mostraban cada día obras diferentes.

Museum Modules presenta cuatro estudios basados en proyectos de museo especiales del pasado. Las presentaciones fueron desarrolladas por un grupo de diversos comisarios y profesionales. Estos proyectos rescatados y reinstalados su testeados para analizar su actual vigencia. Los displays reproducidos son:

Raum der Gegenwart

Kai-Uwe Hemken y el diseñador Jakob Gebert moostrarán su reconstrucción del Raum der Gegenwart, una instalación museográfica única puesta en práctica en Hanover, Alemania, en lo años veinte.

Museum of Modern Art

The Museum of American Art, en Berlin, va a contribuir con una instalación etnographica del  New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMa).

Musée Imaginaire

Florian Schneider  prepara una presentación sobre el  Musée Imaginaire, un concepto museográfico poético de André Malraux.

Museu de Arte de São Paulo

Artist Wendelien van Oldernborghesta desarrollando un proyecto sobre el diseño de la architecta italiana  Lina Bo Bardi, en el MASP de São Paulo.

Potencial escultórico, Marlon de Azambuja

Este proyecto se define como una plataforma internacional con un proceso de trabajo a largo plazo y colaborativo, que pone el foco en rescatar historias invisibles, géneros alternativos y/o prácticas artísticas como el texto de artista, los archivos y el diseño conceptual, que ha tenido una visibilidad restringida y poca accesibilidad hasta ahora, estando ausentes de las narrativas canónicas del arte contemporáneo en Europa del Este  (www.artalways.org)
” La Historia Invisible de exposiciones “  entiende la exposición como el formato dominante de producción contemporánea de arte y presentación. “La historia” en este contexto es interpretada como narrativas construidas basadas en los acontecimientos que constituyen cambios en las nociones de arte (la historia de arte) y los modos en que estas nociones se muestran (la historia de exposición).

We recognize dramatic transformations in creative practice. Transformations instigated by, and a reflection of wider social, political, technological and financial changes. One of the most obvious affects, is that as artists, curators, designers or theorists, our practices, or their interpretation, or how they are theorized, historicized or organized, are no longer separate concerns, or indeed the prerogative of different disciplines. Currently, we are concerned by the threat of the instrumentalisation of the artistic field through the internalisation of corporate values, methods and models. This can be seen everywhere, in funding agencies, at art schools and academies, in museums and galleries, and even in the studios of artists!

Therefore, we seek to avoid the passive reproduction of art, and uncritical cultural production. Our research, projects, exhibitions, publications and funding, our very constitution and administration become legitimate subjects of critical enquiry.

All art is organised, so we are trying to be sensitive to issues of organisation. Governance emerges whenever there is a deliberate organisation of interactions between people. We are striving to be an ‘open’ organization, and to make all decisions, processes and production, accessible and public. We will post agendas, minutes, budget and decision-making processes online for public scrutiny; as advised by open-organization.org

The research elements pursued under the auspices of Critical Practice will engage with the various forces that are implicated in the making of art, and the increasingly devolved experience of art made available through art institutions to their audiences.

We will explore new models for creative practice, and look to engage those models in appropriate public forums, both nationally and internationally; we envisage participation in exhibitions and the institutions of exhibition, seminar and conferences, film, concert and other event programmes. We will work with archives and collections, publication, broadcast and other distributive media and funders; while actively seeking to collaborate.
